The Victoria and Albert Museum doesn’t list anything explicitly about a “social media policy”, but they do list their policies on the use of cookies (http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/articles/p/privacy-policy/) on their main page, and they give a shout out to online access for patrons in their Collections Information and Access Policy on page 7, section 5.5 (http://www.vam.ac.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0014/235121/collections_information_access_policy_13.pdf). However, none of this really makes mention of facebook, twitter, etc, and though they do mention statistics taken from such sources (http://www.vam.ac.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/173734/National_Report_2011-12.pdf, page 15), they don’t seem to discuss policy or actual use.

The Getty Museum does have a policy on social media, or at least one on the posting standards that need to be maintained by employees (click this link to see the social media policy only: https://www.getty.edu/staff/forms/socialmedia.pdf. Their entire staff handbook is actually online, and you can look at that with this link: http://www.getty.edu/staff/handbook.pdf).

They last posted on Facebook 10 hours ago, on Twitter 18 hours
ago, on Youtube 6 days ago, on Pinterest 2 Weeks ago, and on Tumblr today (10/9/13). Most of the pictures on the Getty Flickr are
supplied by the Getty, and their page was last updated with pictures from
August 26, 2013.
Both museums use multiple social media sites to reach their audience, though the Getty seems to update more on average, and is dominating in the Pinterest field (2086 pins to the V&A's 37). The Getty is an interesting case because some of the social media is specifically for the museum, while some is for the J. Paul Getty Trust as a whole. Both sites use Twitter and Facebook somewhat regularly, but did not update consistently, sometimes having multiple days without posts, or days with multiple posts. The Victoria and Albert Museum has not branched out to Tumblr yet, but tags for both the Getty Museum images and V&A images exist.
